Konichiwa! I'm Amy and I'm a musician, writer, and freelance worker living in Brooklyn, New York. It's nice to meet you!
About me? Hmm. Ever since I was a child, I've always had strong feelings about the world, and a desire to understand huge ideas like beauty and sadness and time. As I got older, it became harder and harder to express what was inside me directly. I became very quiet, and didn't know how to behave in public, because I wasn't sure who I was. I turned to music and writing because I could do these activities secretly, and independently, without help or pressure from anyone but myself. But in the end, I discovered that these activities help me to share my life with other people in a very true way. Music, like language, is about
communication--the gift does not belong to us unless we can give it to other people.
Right now, I'm a guitarist, vocalist, and songwriter for a punk rock orchestra called Leda. We are like Neil Young at his very darkest (circa "On the Beach") meets Kelly Clarkson in a glorious pop explosion.
I play guitar and sing in a two-girl noisy rock band called hilly eye with my friend Catherine. We are like Sleater Kinney meets Lightning Bolt on a watery bridge at the end of town.
I am also the founder of a national feminist artists and activists collective, Permanent Wave.
Sometimes, I tweet.
I am very happy to be sharing my life with people all over the world!
Well, that is enough about me. Why not send me a message and tell me about yourself!
